notes that Gawker, a “Manhattan news and gossip blog” (what’s the difference, really?), appears to have caught wind of MTV World – the subset of MTV that includes MTV Chi, K, and Desi, has just been axed. This was shortly followed by an email to AngryAsianMan from one Simon Yin of MTV, apparently confirming the horrible news, and then a further update on AngryAsianMan that reads simply:

UPDATE:I got an email from Simon Yin of MTV Chi, and posted it here earlier today. Since then, I was asked by one one of the behind-the-scenes people to take it down until they sorted things out over there. Things at MTV are still apparently up in the air, so who knows what could happen? One thing’s for sure, it’s not very stable at the moment. But let’s wait and see what happens. Maybe there’s some hope for Asian Americans on MTV…

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for MTV World! Even though I don’t even get MTV on my more-basic-than-basic cable. After all, we don’t want Jin to have to release WORLD EXCLUSIVES from his new album all on Xanga, now do we?

URGENT UPDATE: Gawker breaks the story that MTV, Nickelodeon’s parent company, has decided to close the Nick Jr. magazine. FUCK
